At Perkins Vehicle Carrier we realize how vehicle owners feel about their automobiles and that is why we handle all vehicles as your important investments. We specialise in receiving & handling vehicles shipped overseas and deliver them to their final destination.

Our team of export documentation professionals takes care of every detail, straight from the point of origin until the vehicles are safely and timely delivered to your final destination.

At destination, our agents will handle the importation and delivery of your vehicle to your door, or arrange for you to pick up your vehicle at the import terminal.

Booking A Car Carrier.

Once you are satisfied with our quote you need to book our Car Carrier services. To book for our services, simply follow the information below

We will confirm all details via email, this email will outline all important information regarding your transport, and will also confirm all payment options

The Booking Process

Step 1

Please scan a copy of the invoice and the original B/L and email it to info@perkinsvehicles.co.za

Step 2

Kindly post the original B/L (first original) plus the invoice, and all other documents to our offices in Durban. Documents must be send by courier. Courier documents and advise the waybill number.

To avoid storage charges, document must be sent to our office at least 5 days before the vessel arrives to enable our office to clear the vehicle with Customs in Durban.

PS: There is a 3  day grace period for storage. Vehicle not cleared within the 3 days will incur storage charges per day.

Step 3

Making Payments

As soon as we receive your original  B/L & Invoice our office will go ahead to clear your vehicle at Durban Port and collect the vehicle out of the port to avoid storage charges even before you pay us.

But we will only deliver the vehicle to the border after we have received your payments.

We accept payments in cash or by bank (wire) transfer into our account

Step 4

Vehicle Delivery eg at Beitbridge

Our office will notify you on the dates of delivery of the vehicle to the border by email and phone.

Step 5

Vehicle Collection eg at Beitbridge

We request that you provide information of the person who will collect the vehicle on arrival at the border ie the name & address of the person, the Identity or passport or driver’s licence number.

Customs Clearing

We have reputable agents based at Beitbridge to receive your vehicle and assist you with the clearing process at the border. All vehicles are cleared


a)      Duty paid (where duty is paid at the border)

b)      Cleared into Bond (R.I.B meaning Removal In Bond)

          where duty is calculated at the border but you are

           given the option to drive your car home and pay your  

           duty within 10 days at any Customs Office in Zimbabwe

c)      Transit Clearance (for vehicles in transit through

          Zimbabwe to other countries) eg Zambia.

Calculation of duty

In order to arrive at the VDP (Value for Duty Purposes) which is the value customs use to calculate duty & VAT.

Add the following ie Cost, Insurance (will be 1% of the cost), Freight (Seafreight – up to Durban) Freight (Road – up to the border) and multiply by the applicable percentages.
